Lance Armstrong's War (review)

Well I FINALLY finished the book Lance Armstrong's War. I read it on the way up to the race and back... I guess with my father driving that helps pass the time huh? After reading the book and I know that this might upset a few people, but I feel that he may not use EPO specifically, but he has to be using some type of performance enhancing drug. The book basically seems like a self-defense of the book made in France L.A.Confidential that you will never see in the states. I do believe that everyone is on something so that kinda even out's the playing field.
My dad and I rode 27 miles on Saturday which was good because I hadn't stretched out since "The Dirty Dozen" and then I rode 40. something with the team today. I was thinking about the Dirty Dozen and the place that we got, I know that my teammate was a little upset with 11th... but I think that it is really good. 1st it was an open category race, 2rd only racers go to races, and 3rd no one was there for second place. So I am truly satisfied with 11th out of 21 teams :)

Team #116

There is a lot that I want to write about the race and what it takes physically and mentally to prepare yourself for something that you are not prepared for :) MTB'ing is a sport that you have no choice but to expect the unexpected. Our goal for the race was to finish with a dozen laps... and that was met. I spent the last lap in the rain and tempatures dropped a lot too. James and I both suffered from flats and made us loose about 30 minutes of time together. My father drove the team van up to the race and back, he also walked our bikes for every transition, cleaned them while we rested, made sure that we were fed, took most of the video, rode his MTB back and forth to update James and I were we were, put my lights on for the night, pushed me when I was willing to quit, & did it all with a smile.
The video is mostly the trip up and preparations for the race, I do not have a helmet cam so there are no "action" shots ;) either way enjoy!

My Job...

I usually don't talk about my work, but today there is a two day Health Fair "The Winter Texan Expo" that I attended. This is what a lot of my job consists of ;)

This is me at the office the day before waiting for out Vice President to show up...

These guys are actually my competitors, but still a cool crowd with a cool cowboy "John Wayne" haha :)

Dr's Hospital at Renaissance had a suit that added an extra 20 lbs to see how it feels to carry that extra weight. They also had a couple test tubes with biles of fat from certain products that we eat almost everyday. You know that McDonalds had to be one of their best examples ;)

Texas State Bank was there with a clear room that would turn on and make the money go everywhere... everyone was getting a kick from trying to catch all that "free" money! ;)

Overall the Expo has had a huge turn out and has been going really well so far! :)

The Last Saturday Before the Race

This is my last Saturday to ride before the race... The truth is I don't feel ready for the race, I have had a lot of other things going on right now that has interfered with my "wannabe" training. Jeff called late last night to see if I wanted to ride :)
Jeff and his new x-mas jersey ;)
I look at my bike and feel bad for not using it since my last race :(
This is where Monte Christo ends if you are going east.

I Made a Small Video of All My Videos...

ok right off the bat... I KNOW that I have a spelling error, but I can't fix it now! That's why I never posted it on the team page :)

The Taste of Dirt...

It's been a looong time since I have eaten the dirt from La Joya :) I went Mountain Biking yesterday and it was something that I really needed! It felt great to be out there "literally" pounding my whole body out on the trails!

This is where are trail starts! :)

Um, do you think that there's enough cactus?

Nice jersey and bike combo ;)

I feel like the Titanic... "I'm on top of the world!"
Thanks for taking the pics piojo! ;)

Riding my Mountain Bike...

Riding my MTB with skinny's has been fun but a pain at the same time. I have had a lot of trouble flating out on the bike. I don't know if anyone else has this problem or not, but I am scared to put my MTB tires on it for fear that I will end up stranded during my upcoming race.

This is my father showing you that you should always take your shoes off before your pants :)

Me and my bike waiting at the gas station to be picked up after flatting out again :)

Trainer Huh?

I am anti-trainers! I feel that living in South Texas with basically perfect weather all year round should be the best excuse to be out and about riding! Everytime I read Nick Martin's Blog it gives me more of reason on why I should be riding outside. Unfortunetly I ride around 5.5 in the morning and the fog has been kinda bad this past week or so. I trust myself riding in the fog no problems... I just don't trust the people driving at 5.5 in the morning. So I did the unthinkable. This post is dedicated to Jeff ;)

Welcome to 2006!

I know that a lot of people get pretty riled up about a new year making new years resolutions and things that they wish to accomplish before 2007, but for me it seems to just be another day. I never make new years resolutions because I feel that anything that I need to change for the better I should just do on my own. I also have seen too many people "want" to make changes and end up breaking their new years resolutions. I don't want to sound like a party pooper either! but that's just the way that I feel! :)
Here are some more pics from San Antonio
Somebody put orange and green highlighter on my dog!
