Secret Training...

I have been "secret training" this past week! For those of you that don't know what "secret training" is, I'll explain; This is the type of training that you do early in the morning and or late at night, this way no one sees that you are out riding your bike. The second part to secret training is to deny that you have been riding your bike at all!! :)

I haven't really been "secret training" but I did lose 7-10 pounds this week from the flu :( does that count??? :)

Christmas Tree or Holiday Tree?

I say Christmas tree... I can't believe all the politics that is going on right now about what to call the tree... I say put it up and call it whatever you want! There are truly a lot of other better things to argue about! I although bought my "Christmas Tree" last night :) YES it is a Charlie Brown Christmas tree that was purchased for the amount of $25.00 w. no tax :)

Kick Stands...

For you book lovers you may want to close your eyes...

We all know that kick stands went out of style a while back... so how do you post a good picture of your bike for www.bikejournal.com ? :)

Also I have recently discovered that more people come to this site than I thought... so feel more than free to respond to a post!

That is NOT my bike by the way! :)

There are four reasons kick stands went out of style...

  • Weight plays a big role
  • Aerodynamics
  • It can be dangerous if it comes down while you are riding
  • and number 4 it makes you look like a n00b! :)

Riding In Other Countries...

When I first saw this picture it freaked me out because I thought that the guys were riding on the wrong side of the road... then I looked where they were from "England" Imagine riding on the left side of the road?

Riding of the left side is for n00bs! hehe

I am "tired" of Flats!

I did not get a ride in on Saturday because it was still raining when I woke up at 5.5 in the morning... I was able to attend the TeamMcAllen BBQ. Of course it was another successful event there truly is a lot of hard work put into these things and it shows!
On Sunday I was able to ride with the team. Not the biggest show for the fast riders, I think I counted 12 at the start. As I was about to pull into Anzulduas Park one of our meeting spots on Sunday, I felt my back wheel bouncing again! "YES, I jumped in the S.A.G." I did have a spare tube but I knew that it had to be my rim strip and if I put it in again I wondered if I would make it home! The worst part was that I was now 20 miles away from home since I had ridden my bike to the team ride... again I was fortunate enough that my dad went out and he gave me a ride home, I did have a lot of offers to help though "rides home and tubes" :)

Flat Tires...

I HATE flat tires! they ruin your whole ride, I hate flat tires because...
  • You have to stop
  • You lose your momentum
  • You ride worried
  • You waste a tube
  • Your ride back home is paranoid thinking your going to waste your last tube
  • You wasted 2.50-5.00 bucks depending on the tubes you use

Ok that's my list of why flats suck! :)

I usually don't ride with a pump but since I have been using my camelbak I have been able to fit it in there and luckily I did! I had a flat 2 miles away from my house... so I put the other tube in and literally it went flat right as I pulled up my drive way!

is it good luck? or is it bad luck?

New Team Van

We let a bum with a red beanie in the picture for kicks!

I originally rode my bike from home to ride with the team. While I was at BK I saw Santi and Kelly ride by the group so I decided to jump on board. My legs felt great after the ride was over. We had our own personal sag wagon also.

WIND!!!

I was looking at Nick Martin's blog and I made a comment on how great the weather is over here! Then I started my ride today and the wind was insane! haha I guess that's what I get huh??

I Did Not Ride With The Team Today

I know that Camel Baks are out of style... but I only have one waterbottle cage on my MTB! and that's what holds my NiteRider battery! :(

I didn't ride with the team today because I was scheduled to work the whole weekend! :( BUT that just means that I had to wake up at 5.5 in the morning in order to get my ride in! :) I think that I am starting to get used to this riding alone thing... it is extremely convenient.

I came across this Ad to convince smokers to quit smoking... I thought that it was funny enough to share! :)

I wonder how the environmentalists feel about this? :)

My Ride This Morning

Went pretty nice... I felt a small cool breeze out, but nothing too cold. I am not the fondest of riding in bad weather conditions, I don't like to ride when it's extremely hot, extremely cold, raining, or snowing! NOT to say that I won't! it's just not my preference! ;) *it's too exspensive* Right now the weather seems to be just right...

Roberto Heras Suspended Until Further Notice!

Link to cycling news

Lance Armstrong with Robert Heras

If I ever dreamed one day that I would want to quit my job, sell my house, basically give up my life to become a pro cyclist... it is things like this that makes me come back to reality. It almost seems that you have to do EPO in order to win. I hope that the accusations are not true!

Jarhead out in Theatres!

I used to be a huge movie buff in high school and have not truly found the time to keep up with the latest and greatest... but yesterday I saw the movie "Jarhead." I grew up in the military and I thought that the movie was pretty close to reality, but the movie over all started out pretty good and then it kinda faded towards the end... I guess you could say that it "lost the plot" it ends oddly. The movie was made by the same director from the movie "American Beauty."

Photoshop + Curiosity...

I wondered to myself, wow what a difference one simple program makes. I had a friend e-mail me asking the name of the program that I used to make my pictures black and white in the background. I figure they only looked good because they were good pictures right? So I tested my theory and took some basic simple pictures to see if "photoshop" could make them better! ;)Here are the "basic" pictures...
And below is the final result with some color and text...
Post your thoughts...
and if you need a thanksgiving flyer feel free to take this one!

For the Lance Fan's Out There!

I had to post these pics!

Violated.

On Saturday morning I woke up and put on an IF jersey to go ride with the team. This also was going to be the first day that I get to try out my MTB with the skinny's to see how they perform. I am happy to say that I am extremely satisfied with them and the best word I could describe riding on them is fun!
After my ride I come home and there are a few things missing... I don't really want to go into details... but I guess I feel that I need to vent! Someone broke into my house and stole a few items and I want to leave it at that.
Below is a pic of me waking up... not knowing what was going to happen while I was gone.

Skinnys on a MTB!

I know that this looks pretty funny... and it probably looks like a commuter bike! But this was a recommendation from Pro MTB'er Nick Martin.
Tell me what you think of the new look??? :)

The Dirty Dozen...

is a 12 hour MTB race that I have done for the past 3 years. I have never truly had a goal to that race but to finish it! Last year was probably the most competitive year I have ever had with a decently fast teammate. I also have never really trained for it either, I would usually just show up the day of the race and do it! Well this year I have the same teammate as last year and I plan on atleast being semi-prepared for the race this year! So now that the Duathlon is over and I met all the goals that I wanted... I will be spending a lot more time on my Mountain Bike.

Here are some pics from last years race!
