on the road again..

i rode north east to mccook. along the way i ran into an old friend. the zebra.

the wind was pretty steady, i'd say at 15-18 mph. rode a steady pace, not hard, but not easy.

once i got there i ate a muffin, coke and coffee.

i like to suffer on my bike, on long stretches of road, in the great state of texas!

it was a great ride, and hope to do it again..

Extreme Point

I think that it said something after the word extreme... but when it says something like "Extreme, Beyond This Point!" why would I not go!

South Padre Island 10k

A good friend of mine Omar has been wanting to get into the world of cycling and running. I told him that he needs to do an event, that even if he gets last place this helps you catch the bug!
So he calls me up and says hey there is a 10k at South Padre Island "lets do it" I really do not want to... so I wake up for the run and call Omar "no answer" ok I tell myself, I am not going then! Omar calls me back several minutes later. NOW I am committed. I always remember feeling like this at times when waking up early for cycling rides, but after the ride was done I was so happy that I had made that small sacrafice! This was no exception...

13 mile run...

A couple of weeks ago I attempted to run 13 miles. The most I have probably run before is a 10k. My good friend Jeff said that I would loose count, that after awhile you just kinda zone out. So below I devised this innovative "rock" system. Everytime I ran one lap I would move one rock over haha, the track is 1.5 miles per lap.

Are you aloud to run in a cycling jacket if it's cold outside? Thanks Omar for showing up for support at the end.
As everyone knows I just got back from vacation, well this is the number one reason NOT to leave your dog with your sister to dog sit! It's kinda hard to tell in this photo but my sis made up this b.s. story how my dog got into the trash but really her and "friends" decided to shave his head and give him a moe hawk!

Peaman Biathlon! Kona, Hawaii

Today I participated in my first every Peaman Biathlon at Kona, Hawaii... several professional athletes showed up to the event and made it well worth the show! I was told that the results will be printed in the newspaper and I will update you to let you know how BAD I did. Although I WISH that there was a bike, I GUESS I will run the 4 mile course that was scatted along the beach ;)

New Helmet

Piojo and I both agree that there are things in cycling that we NEED and things that we do not! :) Well for Christmas I got this helmet that I will probably use only about 2 times out of the year... but I got it for Christmas so why the heck not? :)

I am going out of town and I will not be here when the helmet arrives and that's ok also. But I get this e-mail today and this is what it says!!!

Tagged

Lance tagged me ;)

So heres what I have to do:
1. Find the nearest book.
2. Name the book & the author.
3. Turn to page 123.
4. Go to the fifth sentence on the page.
Copy out the next three sentences and post to your blog.
5. Tag three more folks.

Book and Author: Three Weeks with My Brother
Author: Nicholas Sparks & Michah Sparks
Text: They didn't push her to work harder, nor did they help her with her studies, nor did they mind if she brought home poor grades, the reason yet again being, "She's a girl." They did, however, enroll her in horseback riding lessons, thinking a skill like that would serve her well in the long run.

I actually just read this page 123 last night, so I am glad that I didn't have to skip ahead in my book! This is usually a girl's type of book and or author but on the cover there are two boys riding bikes... so since I have a brother I really felt like I could not pass up this book.

Now I have to tag three others
Piojo
Mrs. Valentine

Health Fair

First I wanted to give Piojo a happy b-day wish ;)
I had these big plans of riding this weekend and that kind of went out the window... I had a health fair on Sunday and that was pretty eventful, atleast I find ways to entertain myself!
Above: The identity of this person has been concealed for her protection... also this is what you get when you try to take pictures at a Health Fair!
Below: Is the after shot, Thanks to Mayra an awesome co-worker for taking this pic ;)
Above: "Pete's Budget" is demonstrating to us all how to get your glucose checked. It is a student practicing so that was nice of "Pete's Budget" to lend a finger! BTW I got mine also, and it was 88 ;)

It Feels Like...

This morning before my ride I checked the weather... to see if it's cold and just curious what direction the wind is coming from, but that won't change my route ;) On yahoo it says "It feels like" 48 degrees... I really just want to know the real tempature and I guess I don't remember what 48 degrees "feels like" because it was really cold! After awhile of riding though, it all calmed down and didn't seem too bad. Glad that's the coldest that it's suppose to be this week!

The Fat on the Skinny...

I have been riding recently on my MTB again... incase you didn't notice I put the skinny's back on them. It's a lot of fun riding on them like this haha.
oh yeah... I gased up at $1.93 at H.E.B. :)
I hate it when I have to wait for these HUGE trains!!! ok, it's a small train, but I felt that it looked funny enough to take a picture of!

I Know They Are Late!

On Saturday I was still in San Antonio and I was at the bike shop looking for a new wheel set for my MTB, yeah the one hanging in my garage naked... anyway, BikeWorld had their grand opening for the store and gave away a lot of freebies plus special guest "Bob Roll" one of the commentators for the Tour De France.
Check out Bob Rolls belt, and the picture below that one well yeah... I was only window shopping! ;)

This last picture is of Omar and I test riding some bikes that Trek Factory brought down for the community to trail ride... What a nice park, we are going back there for sure!

First Friday

I went on another trip to San Antonio this past weekend. Here are the pics from Friday... They are in random order (it makes it easier for me to post'em)
Above: Some nice trail art for joggers at the Brackenridge park...
Below: First Friday apparently happens every "First Friday" of the month... We accidently came across this while geocaching at night haha, but nonetheless was a very interesting crowd AND intereresting art!
"YES this is a trashcan with art just oozing out of it!"

Below: Aother random art sign...

Below: There is a shop there called "The Bike Shop" there are mostly cruisers and they had them displayed at the front! That is a balloon shaped into a bike.... it reminds me of "Wedding Crashers"

Above: This isn't for me, but it still makes me laugh... some random guy said that I needed it.
Below: A huge centipede? or milipede? one of those pedes running across the rocks at the Japanese Tea Garden.. although it is still under construction it is still a beautiful place to check out!
Below: First Friday also had a lot of bands and dancers out!
These are the pictures from Friday I'll post some more later on from Saturday.

Here are some quick pics of my trip to Houston

Above: I dont' know what this is hanging from the chair.. I am just waiting for my flight
Below: This was my view while waiting...

On the ground safe and sound... :)

A Musical RollerCoaster...

Isn’t it amazing how we all treat music differently? We can all find songs that make us feel as if it belongs to us because we feel as if it was written and sung directly to us. I think it is interesting how music has the ability to change the mood/attitude of anyone listening to it. . Music is entertainment and all though music is different all over the world is it still music… music brings people together even though they don’t know each other. Some people listen to music because they find it relaxing and stress relieving, others listen for other reasons. When it comes to the Blue Man Group, I find that their music is enchanting. Throughout the entire show they didn’t utter a single word, crack a smile, or even pull a sad face. The way that they expressed themselves was through their music, whether it was the words, melody, or presentation. The entire show vibrated with their energy and love for the music in every aspect. It was such an experience to witness their passion for creating music as an expression of one’s self.

Bike Mark

A lot of times when we ride we tend to find these "random" chain marks on the back of our legs, and we wonder how they get there...Here's a good reason why you shouldn't let your dog near your bike!
