This Weeks Conference... *IN review*

here are pictures that I took while I was gone Mon, Tues, and Wed, for a corporate conference.
Above: This sign attracted me, I was in San Antonio... but it felt Austinish!
Above: We had Dinner at the Hemisphere park, those are sister facility co-workers from Kansas, Lousiana, California, and of course Texas ;)
*we were honored with the President of the company also showing up*
The company that I work for reserved the Hemisphere restaurant... this is where we ate after all of our meetings were over with, BTW I am SUPER scared of heights!
Random pic *love the colors* This was a HUGE wall!

Conference...

This is my tribute to Allez... She thinks that she's the ONLY one with a car wash that has blue and pink bubbles! BTW piojo this is at our buddys wash! I couldn't resist the pictures :)

This week I am going to be out Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for a conference for work. Well I am going to take advantage of this since I can't take my bike and do some exploring around the city. This is a travel bug that belongs to me that I am going to leave in San Antonio for someone else to pick up.

I know that it's hard to understand... but it is one of those things that you have to try to get it. That little dog tag will let me know all the places that it is going to go to, it will probably travel mostly the U.S. but there are those rare occassions that it leaves the states and goes to another country. "Maybe" I'll post updates every now and then to see where it has gone to.

Rain Rain Go Away...

Ok, I usually don't mind the rain... but THIS is getting out of hand. One second it seems like it is going to be a bright and sun shinning day, and then the next it's pooring cats and dogs! Plus the valley floods! The trails that I run at our really muddy... and even if they were not they would be MESQUITO infested! If the saying goes "everything is bigger in Texas" that saying goes for the mesquitoes also! You can literally hear them coming and watch them land on you! I hear a lot of people talking about how they are running inside just to get away from them :) The picture above: This is just driving from my families house & back to mine! It looks like I took a long trip! :)

HBO Boxing

HBO actually came down to support South Texas, and I got to sit ring ride ;)
I had to take this pic, it reminded me of the "Million Dollar Baby"
I got several "behind the scenes" shots.
sitting ring side w. a friend
The Stuff that you don't see...
Before the fight Jazy Garcia flew in and we met up at Starbucks with the Fight Doctor.
In orderfrom left to right:The Doctor, Jazy Garcia, myself, and Jazy's wife. He hooked it up with a Jazy jersey while he was here ;) *Jazy is a professional cyclist from Guam*
Below: A local celeb from the news channel 5
Cruising around with the Doctor in a maserati. Seriously I feel like a gangster from the movie "Swordfish" cruising around in this thing, and it hauls!
Some ring side action!

Chillin' with the "Dogg"

This is the letter: His staff "says" that he likes to write his own letters and sign all the pictures before he sends them out. Had to blur out my address because some "weirdo" could get a hold of it ;)

Ok it's not that type of "Dogg" but it still has the prefix doesn't it?

Above: is a pic with Lloyd Doggett <---- Texas peeps know ;)

Another "sign" mistake!

This is ANOTHER sign mistake that I saw while driving around... now I know that most of it is in spanish, but it doesn't matter what language it is in 4.99 is still the same ;) I just find it funny that they put it right once and then messed up it up later.

Last Night

This rain is beginning to annoy me already... I know that we live in a desert and the desert misses the rain but last night it kept me up. First there was lighting the whole night... in my room I have some very thick curtains too but it still continued to go through my closed eye lids basically waking me up everytime. Second the thunder was "extra" loud and lasted "extra" long! haha I don't know why but it seemed to continue forever!
Some days you are the dog, and some days you are the fire hydrant!

5k Run

I was super busy this weekend! I took a lot of pictures but here is a preview of what I had originally gone out for. I have been focusing on my running lately since this is my weak point and as I mentioned in an earlier post I found a 5k run just to kind of see where we are at right now.
This was at the race start right before the race started.
I like to show up to races like this because this is not my "territory" I still run for fun haha, so if I bring something home I'm cool with that ;)
We always feel like we have done everything that we can for the race until the race starts. Maybe I should say until the pain starts, we begin to think to ourselves why didn't I run an extra mile that day, push myself harder, ate healthier, and or even slept in that day when I should have been out running like the guy that's infront of me right now.
While out on the course I had this very annoying guy that would run past me really fast and then pull over to the side and begin to walk... I would just keep my pace, and then I would hear someone running behind me as fast as he could and then pull over to the side and walk. This type of action was repeated through out the WHOLE race, now talk about annoying!!!
I actually got to sprint him to the finish line, which was fun because it seems like any event that I do I always finish without anyone near me, so I have been accustomed to "Cruising" it in.

This was the results after the race. The smaller trophy is second place for my category... and the bigger trophy is first place for my girlfriends category!

Trouble Maker

Ok first off... there have been some weird postings, I wish the people and or person would leave an e-mail or something else other than an IP Address.
anyway... Here is a picture that might make me look like a "trouble maker" I was on my way home and I it seems that I just missed a three car accident. But I looked to the side and I see one cop per car. This is something that you do not "usually" see on an everyday basis. So since I had my camera handy I "thought" that it woud be a good idea to take a picture. I WAS WRONG, the cop in the middle actually sees me and pulls me over for taking the picture! :(
I blurred out his face and the license plates so that I wouldn't get in trouble.
Doesn't it look like an AT&T commercial????

XL Weekend

Weekend in review… ok we had an extra long weekend so this was good, the bad part is that I do not feel like I accomplished anything and it ALSO feels as if this weekend went by faster than a normal two day weekend! Have you ever had a day or “several” days where you just do not know what you did with them? I had these great plans of actually riding my bike this weekend or do some extra running. Next weekend there is a 5k and or 10k run and I am pretty sure that I am going to attempt the 5k to see where I am at with my running right now.

ok, now the story with the picture... sometimes I just guess ignorace is bliss. I am leaving the mall and I see these two cars competing for parking spots so that no one else hits their cars? If you look close the truck has actually found a way to take up 3 parking spots, I already find it annoying when people think that they are soo good they take up 2 parking spots!

Some People...

Ok, I know that sometimes Piojo, A-Ron and even myself can say things that seem to be obnoxious and or mean. The majority of it is a joke, but this is truly taking it too far!
I was going to a softball game with "Pete's Budget" and driving in front of us was a truck hauling a bunch of trash... we look a little closer and in one of the chairs sitting is a person.
A person sitting in the chair I guess would be ok if he was back there to help make sure that certain items wouldn't fall off into the street and possibly hit my car right? But this individual was sound asleep and has down syndrome!

Bee careful!

First off... Yes I rode my bike! :)

Second, I have been parking at this gas station and riding my bike from there lately... It's this little route that I found that is like "my" Granjeno but for Edinburg instead.

well... After I finished my ride we noticed the tree next to us for some "odd" reason was covered with bees, I hope that they were not the killer bees!

Either way, I snuck a couple of shots in without being stung!

The Postal Bus (review)

Ok, I finally finished the book "The Postal Bus." Overall it was a faily decent book with a lot of insight that we don't think about and or do not see. It has been one of the better books that I have read that are cycling related especially compared to Bobke II. It's funny because the part that I personally found to be the most interesting was not the Tour De France, it was the chapter at the end that was related to the olympics that mainly grabbed my attention. So... if you do decide to read this book don't skip the last chapters I think that they are worth the read ;)

Funny Pic

Happy Monday everyone :)
I hope that everyone had a good weekend, and after being run out of certain "territory" but some certain "hoodlums" I have learned my lesson ;) haha

Daily Special

Sorry the picture is blurry... I had to do a drive by shooting for this one! It seems that all the Subways are doing a promotion and putting "Daily Special" to all their signs. This one inparticular has been spelled incorrectly for almost two weeks! So I was forced to share! A good deal anyway!

Ring Side...

I few of my friends are the fight Doctors for local boxing matches... my father has a couple of ambulances. So my friends call me up and ask if my father can be the company with the paramedics. It's actually pretty cool watching a boxing match from the ring side, to tell you the truth I am not even a big boxing fan! After watching the fights, you still respect boxing just like you do any other sport.
above: is one of the trainers heads (he wouldn't move)
Above: is my father with the "main event" MOST of these boxers are actually built like cyclists!

Above: Is one of the paramedics with the ring girls.
Sorry about the quality of the pictures, I guess I am not good at taking action shots, atleast in boxing... it's still not the same as a bike ;)

Change Settings

Word Verification: I had to add this feature due to all the recent "spam" posts that I have gotten. The weird part is that I was being spammed in older posts, but none the less it still fills up my mail box. I truly attempted to stay away from the word verification to make the site as user friendly as possible. It seems that the spammers have gotten the best of the site! :(

Thor...

This is Thor:
His last day was yesterday at Bicycle World, I liked to bug this poor kid for some reason... I think because he actually owns a bike. Other than Mondo he was the only other tech that rides a bike, atleast that I can think of... He's off to Austin and I wish him well!

Package...

those little things in the middle are some Trek tattoos... I guess this was HIS bag because on the strap it has his name on it. I'll get a chance to use it on the 12 hour MTB race! ;)

For Non-Pro Cyclists

Right now I know that a lot of people have given up on the sport of cycling... or "lost faith" maybe even sports altogether. Here is a video that Jeef has provided and I felt was important to share...
:::Typed in grey is the true story:::
Dick (60) and Rick (42) also participate as a team in triathlons – grueling combinations of 26.2-mile runs, 112-mile bicycling, and 2.4-mile swims – a remarkable feat considering Rick’s inability to walk or talk. At birth, a coiled umbilical cord had wrapped around his neck, cutting off oxygen to his brain and leaving Rick a quadriplegic with cerebral palsy.
When Rick was eight months old the doctors informed the Hoyts that he’d be a vegetable all his life and that they should just put him away. But Dick and Judy Hoyt had connected with their wounded infant. During a recent phone interview, Dick told me that an extraordinary bond instantly formed between father and son.

Every single one of those 9 scratch Tour Mania's are winners...
What does it take to get that many winners?
A LOT of scratching!

"Piojo Pastries"

My friend got married a couple of weeks back, here are some pics of what I think are some pretty "creative" cakes.

You can actually eat the dragon and the sushi rolls... haha :)
